Begin your voyage with a descent 650 feet beneath the Kansas prairie into the salt galleries at Strataca.

Your morning begins shoreside, with your luggage received at Hutchinson Landport. A short transfer takes you to Strataca, where a hoist carries visitors 650 feet below the surface. Explore the mining galleries, discover the layers left by an ancient inland sea, and take the Dark Ride tram through another part of the mine. There is time to study the working machinery and collect a small souvenir piece of salt before returning to the landport for embarkation.

Before you go
Pre-embarkation experience: meet at Hutchinson Landport at 8:30 am on November 14. Planned return is 12:30 pm, before boarding closes. Arrive in Hutchinson the previous evening. Minimum age four; enclosed hoist and underground passages. The seasonal underground train is not included.
